How a Highland scrapyard covers most of Scotland
Our Inverness yard on Carsegate Road North (IV3 8DU) runs the north and east: the A9 corridor through Aviemore and Strathspey, the A96 to Forres and Elgin, and on to Buckie on the Moray coast, regular trips north to Wick, Thurso and Caithness, and batched runs to Aberdeen, Dundee and Perth. Our Fort William yard at Camaghael (PH33 7NF) runs the west and south: Lochaber, Oban and Argyll, the Isle of Skye over the bridge, and the A82 down to Glasgow and the Central Belt.
Honest lead times, because they vary by distance: same-day or next-day around Inverness and Fort William, next-day along the Moray coast and Strathspey, a few days for Skye and Caithness, and two to four days for Aberdeen, Tayside and the Central Belt where we group collections into a run. You get a firm day when you book, and collection is free wherever we come to.

Scrap car prices in Scotland
Our guide price is around £80 per tonne for scrap cars, vans and commercials, so a typical family hatchback of 1,200 to 1,400 kg starts at roughly £96 to £112 on weight alone. Complete cars usually beat that, because we sell reusable parts through our used car parts operation: a car with its catalytic converter, engine, gearbox and alloys still fitted is worth more to us than its weight. We quote each vehicle individually and the price we agree is the price you are paid. Scottish scrap car law: what is different north of the border
Three things catch people out. First, it is illegal to be paid cash for a scrap vehicle in Scotland under the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015, so any dealer offering cash is breaking the law. Licensed dealers like us pay by same-day bank transfer at the point of collection, which gives you a clear record. Second, metal dealers in Scotland must hold a council-issued metal dealer's licence and keep records of every vehicle they buy. Third, the DVLA process is UK-wide: fill in the yellow section of your V5C, keep that slip and send it to the DVLA yourself, hand the rest of the logbook to our driver, who passes it to the Authorised Treatment Facility that destroys the car and issues your Certificate of Destruction. Car scrap yards and car breakers in Scotland
Both of our yards are working scrapyards, not booking offices. Vehicles are dismantled for parts by our own car breakers, usable parts are graded and shelved, and the shell is depolluted and destroyed through a SEPA-licensed Authorised Treatment Facility. You are welcome to drop a car off at either yard rather than wait for collection: call the yard first and we will have the paperwork and payment ready. What paperwork do I need to scrap a car in Scotland?
Ideally your V5C logbook. No logbook? You will need photo ID and proof of ownership, and we will guide you through the rest.
Do you scrap vans and 4x4s across Scotland as well as cars?
Yes. Vans, pickups, 4x4s and light commercials are collected on the same routes as cars, and because they are heavier they usually attract a higher weight-based price. Non-runners, MOT failures and accident-damaged vehicles are all welcome.
